About the Role

We are currently supporting a confidential search for an experienced Identity Security Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise technology environment focused on strengthening identity governance and access security. This role focuses on improving identity governance, securing access management processes, and supporting modern authentication and authorization practices across business-critical systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with IAM platforms, role-based access control, access governance, and secure identity lifecycle management. You will collaborate with security, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure users and systems maintain appropriate access while supporting compliance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Identity Governance & Access Oversight

  • Conduct recurring and on-demand access certification reviews for users, service accounts, privileged identities, applications, and cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain identity governance standards, procedures, and operational controls.
  • Support audit readiness efforts and ensure alignment with internal security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and remediate access-related risks and control gaps.

RBAC & Identity Lifecycle Management

  • Design, maintain, and optimize role-based access control (RBAC) frameworks and least-privilege access models.
  • Partner with application and business owners to define standardized access roles and entitlement structures.
  • Support identity lifecycle processes including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding activities.
  • Assist with provisioning automation and workflow optimization initiatives.

IAM Platform Administration

  • Administer and support one or more enterprise IAM or identity governance platforms.
  • Manage integrations, workflows, configurations, upgrades, and operational health of IAM systems.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new applications and systems into the identity ecosystem.
  • Define provisioning logic, entitlement mapping, and consistent access management processes.

Security Engineering & Authentication

  • Support implementation and optimization of MFA, passwordless authentication, passkeys, and SSO integrations.
  • Ensure identity services align with enterprise security standards and architecture requirements.

Security Operations & Collaboration

  • Review elevated access requests and ensure appropriate approval controls are followed.
  • Assist with investigations related to identity threats, unauthorized access, or access-related incidents.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on identity security best practices and governance standards.
  • Collaborate across security, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to improve identity security maturity.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered. 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, or information security environments. Minimum 2 years of direct experience working with identity and access management technologies. Hands-on experience with IAM, IGA, or identity governance platforms. Working knowledge of:

    • RBAC and least-privilege models
    • Identity provisioning and deprovisioning
    • Directory services and access governance
    • SSO, MFA, SAML, OAuth, and OIDC technologies

    Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOX, or PCI-DSS. Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

      Preferred Skills

      Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or Security+. Experience leading IAM modernization or cloud identity transformation initiatives. Prior ownership or administration of IAM governance programs or enterprise IAM tools. Experience implementing large-scale access reviews or RBAC redesign projects. Familiarity with:

      • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
      • Secrets management solutions
      • Identity threat detection and response

      Exposure to workflow automation, scripting, or identity process optimization. Ability to provide examples of IAM workflows, access models, or governance documentation.
